Rauf Olaniyan, Oyo state deputy governor has been impeached by the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The development followed the adoption of the recommendations of the report of the seven-man panel set up to investigate allegations leveled against the deputy governor, according to Nigerian Tribune.
Sanjo Adedoyin, the majority leader of the house read the report of the panel.
Last week Thursday, the Oyo State High Court presided over by Justice Ladiran Akintola has dismissed the suit filed by Mr Olaniyan, praying the court to stop the House of Assembly from removing him from office.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Akintola held that the impeachment move initiated by the lawmakers had not violated the constitution in any way.
The court ruled that the lawmakers substantially complied with the provisions of Section 188 of the Constitution on the removal process.
The court gave the lawmakers the go-ahead to continue with the impeachment process of the deputy governor.
In June, the lawmakers dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party moved against him and initiated impeachment following the defection of Mr Olaniyan from the ruling PDP to the All Progressives Congress in the state.
23 of the lawmakers had signed his impeachment notice.
