The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has launched a portal for whistleblowers to report crude oil theft across the oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta.
The company plans handsome rewards for whistleblowers who use the platform to report oil theft, TECHNOCRAT MEDIA understands.
According to the information on the platform, Nigerians are urged to join the fight—”If you see something, say something”
“Do your part, report oil theft today.
“Handsome rewards await whistleblowers with useful information,” NNPCL said.
Reuters in a report said the country lost one billion dollars in oil revenue in the first quarter of 2022 over crude oil theft in the Niger Delta.
Last month, Garba Shehu, a presidential media aide, said the federal government will soon reveal the identities of big men behind crude oil theft in the country.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari had directed security agencies to immediately put a stop to the theft of the country’s crude oil by criminals and vandals in the Niger Delta region.
