Aliko Dangote, president and chief executive of Dangote Group, has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support for his refinery project.
The Dangote Refinery situated in Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), Lagos state, is being commissioned today by the president.
Dangote in a short video seen by TECHNOCRATMEDIA, said Buhari, the federal government, Tinubu and the Lagos state government have been of immense support for the project.
“What I want to show Nigerians is actually to show my gratitude and that of the Dangote Group for all the assistance we got from the president, the federal government of Nigeria and even from the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Because he also set the pace by creating Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) as part of his dream for Lagos.
“And also, we want to thank most especially governor Fashola and Ambode. It was during their period that we started the project.
“Also most especially, governor Sanwo-Olu. They’ve given us all the assistance that we needed for the project”.
Dangote also expressed his appreciation to Nigerians for giving us support which is too numerous to mention.
Buhari commissions Dangote’s Africa’s biggest Refinery in Lagos
President Muhammadu Buhari will today commission Dangote Refinery built by Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote.
The refinery is a 650,000 barrels per day (BPD) integrated refinery project under construction in the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos, Nigeria. It is expected to be Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train facility.
The refinery is covering a land area of approximately 2,635 hectares, which is about six times the size of Victoria Island.
The Pipeline Infrastructure at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is the largest anywhere in the world, with 1,100 kilometres to handle 3 Billion Standard Cubic Foot of gas per day. The refinery is powered by a 435MW power plant that is able to meet the total power requirement of the Ibadan distribution company (IBDC).
The refinery after commission and with operations is expected to meet 100 per cent of the Nigerian requirement of all refined products and also have a surplus of each of these products for export.
The refinery is a multi-billion dollar project funded by the Dangote Group. The federal government owns a 20 per cent stake in the refinery through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).
The refinery will create a demand of $21 billion for Nigerian crude annually.
