Residents of Enugu state had defied Governor Peter Mbah’s order banning the weekly ‘Sit-at-Home’ order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Two days after his inauguration as governor, Mbah had declared “no more sit-at-home in Enugu,” effective Monday, June 5, asking individuals and corporate organisations to ensure full-scale business activities in the state.

The governor stated that his administration would engage in dialogue with people who have genuine grievances so as to foster lasting peace and security in Enugu State.

He noted that the continuous obedience to the IPOB order is dwindling the creativity and productivity of the people of the state.

Developments in the state on Monday showed the residents had defied the governor’s order to observe the ‘Sit-at-Home’ order by IPOB.

Roads, schools, banks, markets and other public places were completely deserted by the residents.

IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu is still being held in custody by the federal government.
