Damilola Adeparusi, the Ekiti-born Nigerian chef, says her 120-hour cooking marathon was not for recognition by the Guinness World Records (GWR).

Adeparusi began her marathon on Friday, June 9 and completed her 120 cooking hours on Wednesday, June 14.

She disclosed in an interview with BBC Yoruba that she embarked on the cooking marathon because the exercise makes her happy.

She added that she was not in competition with Hilda Baci, who was recently certified by the GWR as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual in the world.

“In terms of the Guinness World Records or whether I competed with Hilda Baci, I just did what I love to do. It is what makes me happy,” she said.

“Guinness World Records was never in my plan or something. I am not doing this so that Guinness World Records can know me.
