BREAKING: NLC, TUC reconsidering its nationwide strike—may suspend action

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) are reviewing their decision to embark on a nationwide strike.

According to organised labour, the planned strike is, to begin with a mass protest on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

TheCable reports that after the rescheduled presidential steering committee on palliatives meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, Emma Ugbaja, general secretary of NLC, said President Bola Tinubu’s announced measures on Monday were welcomed although they were not comprehensive enough.

Ugbaja said the labour unions would consult with its members to reach a consensus on the next action before the day ends.
