Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI), a nonprofit organisation inspiring citizen-led democratic development, says 135 out of the 1,225 election petitions filed at tribunals across the country have been withdrawn.

This development comes as KDI released an update from its election petition tribunal data dashboard”—a platform where citizens can have access to information on court proceedings and the outcome of the election petition tribunals.

As of August 10, the data showed that twenty-two verdicts have been delivered by election tribunals across the country.

KDI noted that 21 out of 22 petitions were dismissed and only 1 was upheld.

Many of the cases are yet to be decided—just as the presidential election petition tribunal has reserved the date for judgement in the petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi, the candidate of Labour Party (LP) against the victory of President Bola Tinubu.
