Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been sworn in as the senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district.

The President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio directed the clerk of the red chamber to administer the oath of office to her during plenary on Thursday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented the certificate of return to her as the duly elected senator for Kogi Central following the judgement of the appeal court.

The court on Tuesday had affirmed Akpoti-Uduaghan as the winner of the Kogi central senatorial district election.

This followed the verdict of the election petition tribunal of September 6 that also affirmed Akpoti-Uduaghan as the duly elected senator as it nullified Ohere’s victory citing inflated polling results in favor of Ohere in some units and deliberate undercounting against Akpoti-Uduaghan.

She defeated Ohere to become the first female Senator from Kogi State and the fourth female Senator in the 10th red chamber
