The founder of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG) and former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has reaffirmed her support for the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, until she gets justice.
Ezekwesili also denied receiving any bribes to back the Kogi Senator, who is in battle with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, following allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him.
The former minister has vehemently demanded an independent investigation into the sexual harassment allegations made by Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Last Thursday, UK-based Sandra Duru, better known as Professor Mgbeke, had alleged that the female Senator fabricated the sexual harassment allegation against the Senate president.
She also claimed that Akpoti-Uduaghan bribed Ezekwesili to support her claim of sexual harassment against Akpabio.
Reacting to the claim, Ezekwesili via her verified X handle on Saturday, said she cannot be bribed to support a cause she is committed to.
“I see how my unwavering support for your cry for justice has sent your adversaries into a frenzy—resorting to desperate, laughable falsehoods,” the former minister wrote..
“No sensible and decent person who knows my incorruptible track record is deceived by the ridiculous fabrications being peddled by your traducers.
“They know—without a doubt — that no amount of money, not even all the wealth in every Central Bank in the world, can buy my convictions, voice, and stance on any matter I choose to support. So, worry not, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.”
She also added that she would continue to support the senator “wholeheartedly”.
“Our commitment to justice is unshaken, and we will not relent until justice is served,” she said.
On March 6, the Senate suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months, citing “gross misconduct” related to the altercation with the presiding officer.
