The governor described the rumours of his defection should be taken as fake news.

“My people, party elders and chiefs, I declare before you today that I am not defecting to APC or any other political party,” Adeleke said.

“I remain in PDP. Ignore any fake news.”

The rumour of his potential defection followed the defection of the governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, while that of Akwa-Ibom, Umo Eno, is also warming up to join the APC.

The closed-door meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House brought together prominent figures of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Among the attendees was former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who addressed participants virtually.

Wale Oladipo, chairman of the Imole Movement, reaffirmed that the PDP remains a political home for those genuinely committed to the welfare of Osun State’s people.

Oluwole Alabi, the PDP’s 1999 governorship candidate and a member of its Board of Trustees, joined Lasun Yusuf, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, in describing the party as a catalyst for development and human empowerment.

Akanni Olohunwa, a member of the House of Representatives, highlighted the positive changes taking place in Osun under PDP leadership and voiced optimism about the party’s prospects in future elections.

The meeting was coordinated by Osun PDP chairman Sunday Bisi and was also attended by House of Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun, along with other legislative members.
