Justice Haruna Tsammani, chairman of the presidential election petition tribunal, has dismissed the application for live coverage of court proceedings by the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Tsammani gave the ruling at the 2023 Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) sitting in Abuja on Monday.

According to the justice, the application by PDP and LP lacked merit.

The presidential candidates of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar and the LP, Peter Obi had filed applications for an order to allow the daily live coverage of the court proceedings on the case they instituted against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, following the February 25 election.

Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had opposed the applications of Atiku And Obi, describing it as an abuse of the court process.
