Ogbomoso, Oyo
An Oyo State High Court in Ogbomoso has voided the appointment of Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the new Soun of Ogbomoso.
The court said his selection process was illegal.
The court ordered that the Oyo State Government conduct a fresh selection process to enthrone a new king.
In September, DAILYAGENT reported that Prince Kabir Olaoye instituted a suit marked HOG/27/2022 challenging the nomination of Prince Ghandi Olaoye on various grounds.
The court supported the plaintiff’s argument and ruled that Olaoye’s appointment was null and void.
The presiding judge, Justice Adedokun, who delivered his judgement, held that the appointment of Oba Laoye was illegal.
He also dismissed three petitions brought before him by one of the accusers, Prince Taofiq Laoye.
