Ondo Govt Suspends NURTW/RTEAN Activities

By Damilola Adeyemo

AKURE – According to reports, the Ondo State Government has suspended the activities of the national union of road transport workers (NURTW) and the road transport employees association of Nigeria (RTEAN) with immediate effect.

The suspension was due to the outrageous fees of transportation charged by the union in the state.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on special duties, Doyin Odebowale has made the suspension known in a press briefing.

He said, ” No one should collect revenue from motorists on behalf of the government henceforth.”

The government has also directed taxi drivers to revert to the old rate of N50 per drop.

He added that the union has not been remitting money to the government’s purse.
