BudgiT, a leading accountability nongovernment organization says the federal government of Nigeria made a total of 28,262 transactions across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) totaling N2.21 trillion in five months.
In a series of tweets, titled: “A summary of FG’s disbursements between January and May 2021”, BudgiT said, March racked up the highest number of payments with 10,872, followed by May with 5,499, April having 4,493 and February 3,704 respectively.
“Our analysis of disbursements within this period reveals payments without description totaling N2.05bn, and payments made to personal accounts totaling N4.95bn. FG has done a lot in ensuring a reduction of these occurrences, but more still needs to be done”
“Five MDAs with the highest expenditure within this period are the Ministry of Defence N479bn, Federal Ministry of Education N263bn, ministry of Finance N195bn, Ministry of Works and Housing N119bn and Federal Ministry of Agriculture N106bn.”
“MDAs with the lowest expenditure include the Ministry of Aviation N14bn, Ministry of Petroleum Resources N12bn and Ministry of Foreign Affairs N5bn, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development N2.0bn and Federal Ministry of Women Affairs N1.5bn”.
