The Ondo State House of Assembly says it has rescheduled the screening of commissioner nominees billed to continue on Tuesday.
The screening exercise which commenced on Monday was suspended because the Chairman House Committee on Selection and the Speaker of the House, Mr Bamidele David Oleyelogun were said to be indisposed.
Chairman House Committee on Information, Youth and Sports Development, Akogun Olugbenga Omole said the House regretted all inconveniences caused by the suspension.
“We enjoined the remaining Commissioner nominees to report promptly on the rescheduled date with all necessary documents.” Mr Omole explained that nine of the nominees were screened on Monday while the remaining five were earlier scheduled for appearance today are to appear tomorrow, Wednesday, 1st December 2021 at 1 pm at the Conference Room of the Speaker.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House, Mr Bamidele David Oleyelogun of the house is currently being arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for financial impropriety.
According to SunshineTruthng Oleyelogun and some members and officials of the legislature was alleged by Mr Iroju Ogundeji, the embattled deputy speaker of the Assembly of collecting and sharing some money meant for a seminar in Lagos which they never attended.
Ogundeji in a petition to the EFCC called for the investigation of the fund allegedly collected and shared by the speaker and others for a phony seminar in Lagos.
Operatives of the Olokuta Correctional Centre has prevented journalists from entry and thereby have no access to cover the live court proceedings.
When contacted, the public relations officer of the correctional centre, Mr Ogundare Babatunde, corroborated the Squadron Commander, insisting that no journalists would be allowed into the court.
