Mrs. Favour Semilore Tomomewo hails from Mahintedo town in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. Upon inauguration as a lawmaker representing Ilaje Constituency II, she became the Chairperson House Committee on Women Affairs, Chairperson House Committee on Diaspora and as well she is a member of some other Committees in the Ondo State House of Assembly.

HER EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

She began her early education at Eleja Primary School, Ilasa-Maja in Lagos from where she proceeded to Community Grammar School Zion-pepe and later Classic grammar school, Ejigbo, Lagos.

She thereafter attended the Millennium College of Education, Akure and Royal Society Academy, Ibadan where she successfully bagged a National Diploma in Community Health and Higher National Diploma in health administration services respectively.

In her quest for higher education, the Oliver Twist in Tomomewo got her a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State.

The success of Mrs. Tomomewo in Public health which started at a tender age when she was made a health prefect in secondary school has been the combination of passion, determination, unmitigated zeal and dedication. Hence the plethora of testimony of one success to the other.

HER EXPERIENCE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE

In her innate desire to serve humanity vis-a-vis her career path, she established T. Favour Health Care Service where she cater for the indigent members of her immediate community at a time when such essential service was scarce.

She founded in 2013 an NGO known as ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH CARE INITIATIVE (E.H.I) with the aim of complementing government agencies and local efforts on development and proper management plus dissemination of information on debilitating health issues affecting youths, women and children.

This initiative has over the years yielded much result as thousands of lives have been touched. In 2017 for instance, more than 600 females and youths who were hitherto battling with myriads of life difficulties and other societal economic challenges benefited from the series of E.H.I programmes that eventually gave them new lease of life.

It is worthy of note that Favour Tomomewo Health Care Initiative has enabled her the membership of some local and international organizations such as the Primary Health Care Board of Nigeria (PHCBN), Women of Niger Delta on Agriculture (WDA), Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), National Council of Women Society of Nigeria (NCWS), Civil Society Network on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CISHAN), Conflict Resolution and Peace Building (PIND) and Liron Hydrocephalous Foundation.

HER AWARDS

The success of Tomomewo Health Care Initiative has also attracted local and international recognition such as the Ireland Government Council with an attendant Laurel. In 2018, Sheroes Global in Dublin invited and sponsored her and the NGO to represent Nigeria in showcasing Nigerian in Ireland 2018 Carnival. Her exhibition while in Dublin attracted the award of the SUPERHERO bestowed on her by an Ireland based NGO, SHEROES GLOBAL.

HER POLITICAL JOURNEY

In the course of the discharge of Tomomewo’s health benefits to her people in their different communities, she was exposed to the poverty of her people, a situation which goes beyond their health need. She thereafter made consultation with her people and decided to foray into politics where she would be able to bring them out of poverty using political means. She was immediately saddled with the responsibility of flying the flag of her party, the All Progressive Congress as a Member, Ondo State House of Assembly. She enjoyed the maximum support of her people and won with a wide margin thereby becoming the only female lawmaker of Ondo State 9th Assembly.

Because of her political versatility in the assembly upon inauguration, she becomes the

Chairperson House Committee on Women Affairs, Chairperson House Committee on Diaspora and as well she is a member of some other Committees.

In order to be fully committed to her corporate social responsibility and to make it all encompassing, Tomomewo has flagged off Tomomewo Community Development Project (TCDP) which has three core areas of Poverty Alleviation, Health Care and Child Education. TCDP is a UN Supported Development Goal with the aim of promoting sustainable development through active education and creative development in entrepreneurship. TCDP is targeted to cater for children and women (which constitute her audience)

Her core competence in Children Charity, Children Medicals and Women with their family, is aimed to pursue, promote and implement projects that will boast community growth, general health and well being of the people in tandem with the development drive of the APC led Ondo State Government. Testimony began to emerge in this direction when she was recently conferred alongside many eminent Nigerians with the 2019 Ondo State Female Role Model Award as a Public Health Consultant of International Repute.

As a political trailblazer, she was also honoured of recent with the Ambassador for West Africa Emerging Political leader as she is also an associate TCG of the Royal Society Academy (RSA).

Mrs Favour Tomomewo is not oblivious of her unique position as the only female among the 26 honourable members of the 9th assembly. As she is always reminded of this in her nickname “Okanlawon”, she is indeed ready to live by that name and achieve for his good people what no other leader has achieved. She has already put machinery in motion towards making her legislative voyage a never forgotten experience.

To facilitate this, she has adopted an open door policy operation which will enable her first hand information to the need and complain of her constituents and a possible quick repost to them.

Favour Tomomewo is not just a wife and a mother but also an advocate for women, children and gender equality.
