An Akure High Court has restrained the Ondo State House of Assembly and the Speaker; Mr. David Oleyelogun from suspending the Lawmaker representing Ese-Odo Constituency, Mr. Success Torhukerhijo as a member of the House of Assembly. The order was granted by Hon. Justice Ademola Bola of the Ondo State High Court to restrain the Assembly from stopping the lawmaker from performing his constitutional duties and entitlement as a member of the Assembly. They were also served with a motion on notice as well as an originating summons.
Mr. Torhukerhijo sought the protection of the court immediately after he was suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the local government level over the allegation that he insulted the leadership of the party and the House of Assembly in a media chat
However, Mr. Torhukerhijo had earlier dissociated himself from the said online publication which was done in his name. He described it as malicious, fraudulent, and the handiwork of perpetual evildoers.
Following the suspension of Mr. Tomide Akinribido representing Ondo West Constituency under the Platform of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Mr. Torhukerhijo was investigated by a setup committee over his purported foul language in a media chat and report back to the house so as to carry out their premeditated agenda.
