ODE-IRELE – The conduct of local government election in Ondo State by the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC has produced new council chairmen and councilors across the eighteen local government in the state.
While monitoring the election in the southern senatorial district, voters were seen properly subjecting themselves to COVID-19 protocols and other voting procedures as laid down by ODIEC in order to have a successful election.
In Irele, Professor Francis Igbasan explained that the process of the election was carried out effectively and efficiently without violence, delay and intimidation from any quarter. He commended ODIEC for a job well done.
In his words, I want to declare that the election was peaceful. Let me commend ODIEC for their professionalism. At least, they have done their best.
In Okitipupa, the current caretaker chairman, Prince Abayomi Adesanya described the election as free and fair without violence. He emphasized how voters conducted themselves in orderly manner which contributed in no small measure to the peace recorded during the election in the area.
In Ese-Odo and Ondo West, there reports of pocket of violence between political parties; APC and ADC which led to destroying of electoral materials while some people particularly political thugs were injured.
After the announcement of results at Ode-Irele, the local government returning officer, Mr. Adekunle Ayuba noted that ODIEC was prepared for the election which contributed largely to the success of election in Irele and other local government across the state.
