Ondo Assembly considers anti-open grazing, clears air on Speaker’s invitation by EFCC

ONDO – The Chairman House Committee on Information, Youth and Sports Development, Akogun Olugbenga Omole, has signed a statement debunking rumour that the Speaker, Mr. Oleyelogun Bamidele David was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Mr. Olugbenga Omole made this known on Monday while addressing the press at the House of Assembly complex.

Omole said his office is open for information concerning the House but urged men of the pen profession to cross check their facts before publishing.

Also at the press briefing, Omole hinted that the House will this week hold Public Hearings on crucial bills that bother on the welfare of the people.

They include the violence against persons prohibition bill, a bill for a law to regulate rearing and grazing of livestock and provide for the establishment of ranches and a bill to establish the Ondo State drugs and health commodities management agency.

Omole informed that stakeholders have been invited to speak on critical areas of the bills with a view to making them functional and serve the people better.

He called on participants to be free to ventilate their opinions during the Public Hearings as it is the only way to better the lots of humanity.

Meanwhile the Speaker of the House of Assembly has spoken vehemently against all forms of violence against women.

Speaking on the backdrop of this year’s International day for women, the House through the Speaker, Oleyelogun Bamidele David lamented the growing cases of rape and other violent crimes against women.

Oleyelogun stressed the need for law enforcement agencies to rise up to the challenges of protecting the sanctity of womanhood.

He pledged that the House will provide the legal framework to tackle violence against women by working critically on the violence against person bill currently at the assembly.
