She was elected by 17 honourable members at a plenary sitting presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hakeem Jamiu.

The House barred six other lawmakers alongside the impeached Speaker, Mr Aribisogan, from the premises of the assembly complex for 145 days for alleged unpatriotic and unparliamentary conducts capable of plunging the State into crisis.

The lawmakers include Tajudeen Akingbolu (Ekiti West I); Tope Ogunleye (Ilejemeje); Adekemi Balogun (Ado-Ekiti I); Ajibade Adeyemi (Moba I); Yemi Ayokunle (Ekiti Southwest I) and Adegoke Olajide (Efon).

After the House adjourned the plenary, the new Speaker and other members of the assembly to the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to officially inform the leaders of the party of the change in leadership of the assembly.
