The court also orders the House of Assembly to immediately reinstate Mr Iroju as the deputy speaker.

In December 2020, the House led by its Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, accused Mr Iroju of “gross misconduct” citing it as the ground for impeachment.

The lawmakers held that by his conduct he had brought disrepute to the assembly.

According to the speaker, 20 lawmakers signed the impeachment proceedings against Mr Iroju which he said only 18 members of the house are required to form the two-thirds for the exercise as required by law.

Mr Iroju who represents Odigbo Constituency II, was impeached following a resolution of the house.

He was immediately replaced by Samuel Aderoboye.
