He urged the UK government to remove the barrier, most especially for Commonwealth countries like Nigeria.

Policy Shapers, a nonprofit organisation empowering young people with knowledge, skills and tools to engage with public policy has been leading the #ReformIELTSPolicy campaign for more than three years.

According to the founder of the organisation and convener of the campaign, Ebenezar Wikina, the campaign has gained popularity amongst over 75,000 Nigerians, including government officials.

More than 20 global universities have changed their language policies and removed IELTS requirements for Nigerian seeking to study in their institutions as a result of the campaign.
