Abubakar Kyari, deputy national chairman (north) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has presided over a national working committee meeting (NWC) of the party.

Kyari’s presiding of the meeting came hours after the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, resigned from office.

Daily Trust reports that “The National Party chairman resigned after hearing that some parties near the president were planning to disgrace him at the party’s meeting Open tomorrow Tuesday and Wednesday”.

At Monday’s emergency NWC meeting are Emma Enukwu, deputy national chairman (south); Issacs Kekemeke, vice-chairman south-west; Salihu Lukman, vice-chairman north-west; and Festus Fuanter, deputy national legal secretary; are among those attending the meeting at the party’s headquarters on Monday.

TheCable reports that there is a heavy presence of security personnel around the headquarters of the ruling APC located in the Wuse 2 district of the federal capital territory (FCT).
