The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has hosted the inaugural meeting of the Startup Consultative Forum.
The forum, which was held on Monday, April 28, 2025, attracted stakeholders from the tech ecosystem to deepen engagement in the sector.
NITDA in a statement signed by the Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations at NITDA, Hadiza Umar, said the meeting was attended by stakeholders from labelled and verified technology and entrepreneurship organisations.
According to the agency, the forum was convened under the Nigeria Startup Act to give startup founders, innovators, and ecosystem enablers a direct role in shaping national policies that promote growth, attract investment, and drive digital innovation.
DailyAgent reported that the Nigerian Startup Act was signed into law on October 19, 2022, to create a legal framework for developing startups in the country.
NITDA said the meeting was focused on the nomination and selection of representatives for the inauguration of the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship—also known as the Startup Council—which serves as the highest advisory body for Nigeria’s startup ecosystem.
“This milestone event marks a significant step in ensuring that startups are not just stakeholders but key contributors in building an enabling environment for innovation,” NITDA noted.
The statement added that the forum was to promote collaborative dialogue and inclusive policy development that amplifies the voices of the country’s tech and innovation community.
“NITDA invited all Labelled Startups, Verified Entrepreneurial and Innovation Support Organisations, Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists, and other relevant stakeholders to participate in the forum and the nomination process.
“Join us in shaping the future of digital innovation in Nigeria. Together, we can build a thriving ecosystem that supports and celebrates the pioneering spirit of Nigerian startups.”
