The main match, which was played at the 30 June stadium, Cairo, Egypt, ended in a 1-1 draw, leading to a penalty shootout.

Winning the shootout earned the Flying Eagles the third-best nation in the tournament.

Still reeling from their semi-final defeat to South Africa, the Nigerian team fell behind early, conceding in the third minute as Osama Omar struck to give the hosts an early advantage.

However, Aliyu Zubairu’s boys drew level shortly after the restart, with Bidemi Amole coolly slotting home following a well-timed pass from Divine Oliseh.

The match ended dramatically, with a defensive lapse handing Egypt a golden chance to snatch victory. But the Junior Pharaohs were left frustrated, as Mohamed El Sayed rattled the crossbar and Mohamed Haitham struck the post.

With no winner in regulation time, the contest was decided by penalties. Mohamed Atef and Ahmed Kabaka saw their efforts saved, while all four Nigerian penalty takers scored against the net to secure the win.
