1,822,346 registered voters will elect chairmanship and councillorship candidates of their choices in Ondo State Local Government elections in the state.
The election which is slated for today has no fewer than 41 chairmanship candidates and 425 councillorship candidates contesting under the platform of the 10 qualified political parties that will be participating in the election.
Technocrat Media gathered that the 10 qualified political parties to participate in the election are; Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Party, Action Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Action Peoples Party, Social Democratic Party, and Young Progressive Party will be participating in the council polls. Seven out of the Ten political parties will participate in the chairmanship election, while the remaining three will only take part in the councillorship poll.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Zenith Labour Party were alleged to have backed out of the election because they couldn’t trust the electoral body.
As at the time of filing this report, the turnout of voters in some polling unit are still very low. Voting has commenced in some local governments while some are yet to commence.
