Ahead of the inauguration of the tenth National Assembly, a total of 109 new senators have been elected.
The senators-elect emerged during the February 25 national assembly elections and the rerun elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across the country.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is having 56 senators-elects while 36 are elected on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) as well as 8 were elected on the Labour Party (LP) platform.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNP) have 2 seats; the Social Democratic Party have 2 seats respectively.
Others include the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Young Progressive Party (YPP) has 1 seat each.
The race to become the next senate president started immediately after the February 25 elections with the likes of Orji Kalu, Godswill Akpabio and Barsu Jibrin as ranking members of the Senate.
