Abuja, Nigeria
The federal government and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reached a new agreement on the resumption of travel for Nigerian passport holders.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
“Following successful talks and extensive, mutually beneficial negotiations between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria @NigeriaGov, an agreement was reached allowing for the resumption of travel to the UAE for Nigerian passport holders,” he posted on X.
He added that the agreement includes updated controls and conditions to facilitate obtaining a UAE visa.
“The resumption of visas will be effective from July 15, 2024,” he said.
Recall in October 2022, the UAE banned Nigerians and citizens from 19 other African countries from entering its borders and issued a notice to travel agents and trade partners to reject all applications.
