Making NIN mandatory for banks is senseless, Nigerians blasts FG

LAGOS – Nigerians have taken to their social media handles to lambast the federal government over making national identification number (NIN) compulsory for transactions.

PUNCH gathered that that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, while hosting the newly elected National Executive Council of the Association Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria in Abuja announced the proposed move of the government.

Nigerians have described the government moves as ‘senseless’.

In a statement, Ogunwale Ololade said “Making NIN mandatory for a bank is senseless. Bank users are not Nigerians and it is not every foreigner that is due to have NIN,”
