World CHILDREN’S DAY is one dedicated day to celebrate “childhood”, it is On this day that tribute is paid to all children in the world and also to promote international togetherness, and awareness among children worldwide, and improve children’s welfare.

Children are loved by one and all and they win over our hearts with their angelic eyes and innocent smiles.

Children’s Day is an event celebrated in many places around the world. The holiday is simply set to honour children and minors.

History

International Children’s Day had its origin in Turkey in 1920 (April 23, 1920) and later in the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925.

Children’s Day was first celebrated worldwide in October 1955, under the sponsorship of the International Union for Child Welfare in Geneva.

Universal Children’s Day is Celebrated on November 20

The idea of a Universal Children’s Day was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1954.
In the year 1959, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child on that same day while the official decree on the protection of children’s rights was established on November 20, 1989.
It was mooted by Rubab Mansoor grade 8

it was established to encourage all countries to institute a day, firstly to promote mutual exchange and understanding among children and secondly to initiate action to benefit and promote the welfare of the world’s children.

Though the United Nations set November 20 aside for the Children’s Day celebration, the day is celebrated on different dates in different countries.

Children’s day was also chosen as the day to celebrate childhood. Generally, children get all excited and eagerly await the day.

All the local schools go to their local stadium where each school has a special march in which they perform.

May 27 is traditionally the Children’s Holiday in Nigeria. First established by the United Nations in 1964, the day remains important in the lives of many Nigerian kids.

Though it is not a general public holiday in Nigeria, the day is set aside to honor the younger generation and, thus, primary and secondary children are given a day off from school.

In addition to the festivities and celebrations of Children’s Day, this date also serves to recognise that all minors and children have the right to health, education and protection.

On this day, several social activities include excursions, parties, funfairs, parades, etc.
Most of these activities are held at special centres like stadiums, amusement parks, and other notable places.

Some government bodies, media organisations, and non-governmental organisations also take the day out to reach out to children and help them in several ways.

Parents celebrate their children too on this day, by getting them presents, taking them out on excursions, and giving them a treat.

Radio and TV stations do this by featuring child broadcasters on-air and letting them anchor their programs for the early part of the day.

As we celebrate another children’s day, parents should sincerely evaluate their parent-child relationships.

When parents are seriously busy, children often spend more time with unpredictable maids, unrated media content and their peers than with their parents. This often instils bad influences into their lives and is the cause of misconduct.
